Wide arm or narrow arm
Both are scissor-arm systems that raise the lid of an ottoman storage bed; what sets them apart is the spacing between the arms. In the wide-arm type the two points contacting the lid are further apart: the load spreads over a larger area and a large, heavy lid flexes less as it rises; it is used in double and wide bases. The narrow-arm type takes less space inside the base and eats less into the storage volume; it fits single and smaller bases and frames with limited side clearance. On both, the perforated arm profile offers fixing points at different base heights.
