Production flow

From steel coil to packed carton, in six steps

Five of the six steps happen in our own facility; only surface plating is done outside. We say plainly which step sits where — that is the first thing a buyer choosing a supplier looks for. Every photograph below was taken on our own shop floor.

Steel coils stacked on the shop floor next to a decoiler Strip running off the decoiler into the press feed line
01

Steel coil intake

Coil is taken from stock to the decoiler. Thickness and width are chosen to suit the mechanism being made.

02

Stamping and forming

The strip is cut and formed on the die. All volume production comes off this line, and it is where dimensional repeatability is set.

03

Welding and assembly

Scissor arms and body parts are welded together and the moving joints are fitted.

04

Surface treatment

Zinc or chrome plating is applied for corrosion resistance and appearance. Plating is carried out by specialist plants we have worked with for years; the parts come back to us for inspection.

Inspection

Dimensions and movement are checked. Parts get a final look over before boxing.

Packing and despatch

Sets are labelled and palletised. Contents and quantity are marked so they can be read off the outside of the box.

How we hold quality

Quality is repeatability, not paperwork

What decides a mechanism is whether the second order comes out the same as the first. Three things make that happen, and all three are part of the daily routine.

Tooling

The die stays with us

Every product's die is in our own facility. A repeat order does not drift, because the part comes off the same die. When a design change is needed, we can make it without waiting on anyone else.

Sample

A sample before the run

For a new dimension or a made-to-order job we send a sample first. Volume production does not start until it is approved, which removes the risk of a bad batch at the outset.

Inspection

A final check before boxing

Parts returning from plating are checked for dimensions and movement. Sets are labelled with quantity and contents, so what is inside the box can be read from outside it.

Our Values

Four headings, each with something concrete behind it

Quality

Every step from coil selection to assembly is under our own control. No intermediate step leaves the building, so no drift is introduced outside it.

Innovation

New mechanism designs and continual improvement of existing ones. Because we hold the tooling, a design change reaches production quickly.

Customer Focus

Send us your dimensions and quantity and we will reply the same day. For made-to-order sizes we prepare a technical drawing.

Reliability

Same dimensions and same plating on the repeat order. In volume production, repeatability is the thing buyers ask about most.

Who we make for

What we make usually goes onto another manufacturer's line
