5 Common Mistakes in Furniture Assembly

Even if the right product is chosen, incorrect assembly reduces the performance and lifespan of the mechanism. Here are the mistakes we encounter most often in the field.

1. Using the wrong screws

Screws that don't match the length and diameter of the mechanism both weaken the connection and can crack the wood. Use the screw type recommended by the manufacturer.

2. Angle error

Especially in leg connection plates and corner connectors, assembly at the wrong angle disrupts load distribution and increases tipping risk.

3. Missing connection points

Leaving some screw holes empty to save time is one of the most critical mistakes. All connection points must be used.

4. Skipping surface preparation

  • Make sure the mounting surface is flat and clean.
  • A rough or sloped surface causes the mechanism to operate unevenly.

5. Ignoring torque values

Over-tightening screws can strip threads, while under-tightening leads to loosening. Use a torque-adjustable screwdriver if possible.

Reading the assembly guide is often the fastest solution.
