Mechanism Material and Coating: What to Consider?

Mechanism Material and Coating: What to Consider?

The durability of a mechanism is directly related to the quality of the raw material used and the surface coating. The right material determines the product's lifespan.

Steel quality

The load-bearing parts of the mechanism should be made of steel of sufficient thickness and strength. Thin or low-quality sheet metal bends under load and undergoes permanent deformation.

Galvanized coating

Galvanized (zinc) coating protects steel against corrosion. It is a basic requirement, especially for products to be used in humid environments.

Electrostatic powder coating

  • Provides both an aesthetic and protective surface.
  • More resistant to scratches and impact than galvanizing.
  • Blends with furniture design thanks to color options.

Which one, under which conditions?

In dry indoor spaces, galvanizing is often sufficient. For visible parts or demanding use conditions, powder-coated surfaces should be preferred. Stainless steel, on the other hand, is ideal for applications requiring the highest durability.

Material selection is not a cost item but a long-term investment.
